The Price of Coaching: How to Talk About Pricing with a Prospect Coach

Do you believe that you can do all things on your own? I bet you the answer is a resounding no. This is a mutual truth we all agree on. We need each other not only for our personal success but also for personal growth and relationships.

If you’re struggling with how to cope with your mental health struggles. Get help. If you want to scale your business in the digital space, get assistance from a social media expert. If you want guidance in how to set your goals and career, seek out a life coach. We all need someone who can help us build up the areas where we are not so strong. And getting help is okay.

But I hear this often when it comes to the actual step of getting help. Is coaching expensive? It seems to me that the issue of payment is heavier than the actual need of receiving help. It seems that people are always held back from their own growth and success because of the belief that getting the help they need is something they cannot afford.

Now I made it my mission to break this limiting belief apart in this latest podcast episode. I raised this matter with two business coaches, and the wisdom they provided when it comes to pricing issues is something we can definitely glean from. Read on.

  • Be honest with your hesitation.

Coaches are there to help us. More than anything, they are our allies in life, struggles, and business, depending on the specific needs we want to be addressed. So when coaches start to discuss the payment aspect and you find yourself retreating, tell them your hesitation instead. Be honest about whether you can afford the rate they presented or not. The coach is more than willing to work out a customized plan with you wherein you can manage the payment while still getting the help you actually needed.

  • Know what you want.

Before seeking out a coach, it is crucial that you fully understand what help you need. The more knowledgeable you are about your situation, the better the options the coach can provide. Your coach could even determine whether he or she can actually give you the help you need or recommend you to another expert who has more expertise in assisting your need.

  • Acknowledge that there could be other options.

Talking about payments and dues could be a sensitive topic during an initial call with a prospect coach. It is understandable that as a client, you would have your preferred budget in mind. However, you also should be open to the fact that the coach could introduce you to other options that would work better for both of you than what you originally had in mind. Being open will get you faster to the kind of help that you actually need.

Remember: Coaches are Your Allies

As professionals and business owners, coaches set their rates according to their expertise and experience. So when you get help, you know that you’re receiving only the best kind for your specific need. With this in mind, the pricing issue should not be a reason for you to back down. Coaches can provide helpful alternatives for you so that you can still avail the help that you need the most.

If you want to gain more knowledge on how to make a productive consultation call with a prospect coach, listening to the rest of this episode will serve you well.
