Social Media - The Form of Expression

Have you ever struggled with opening up about yourself? Were there times when you just wanted to express how you feel, but then you hesitated because it might gather a negative response from people?

Well, that makes two of us.

My Take on Expressions

As you already know, the End in Mind podcast is all about expression. As you’ve listened to me for a while now, you might have noticed how I’ve been opening up about some things that the everyday people around me don’t even know. This podcast has become like an intimate circle for me to express myself or open up about my thoughts and feelings.

I used to be very controlling, but amazingly, it’s this same sense of control that also made me want to be an entrepreneur. I think that’s what’s miraculous about expressions. This is where the shadow self gets into the picture.

Meeting the Shadow Self

All of us have characteristics in us that we don’t like, but we know that that is great to share with the world. Somehow, however, we hold back because we’re scared of how it would affect other people. It’s similar to those secret abilities or skills that we know we do have but just shy away from showing because there might be repercussions that we’re not ready for.

But, when we take that into the perspective of a holistic journey, we will see our shadow self as expressions of our authentic self. And when we are being authentic before others, we would gravitate toward our niche or the people who would truly be impacted by these expressions.

Navigating Through the Shadow Self

Do we have what it takes to navigate through our shadow selves? Absolutely! Here’s my take on how you could handle your shadow self.

  • Assess Your Strengths and Weaknesses

Through the coaching sessions in my healing journey, I have learned to identify the attributes that are helping me and those that are not helping me. I would say that this recognition strengthened my core as an entrepreneur. I would never get as far as where I am now if not for my understanding of one of my shadow selves, which is that of having a need for control.

  • Recognize Your Limit

We’re not always at our 100%, and I think it’s very important to acknowledge that. When we do, we are expressing our authenticity. How ironic it is that when we recognize that we are not our best selves at that very moment, we also gain the strength to release it, and then actually show up in our businesses, our niches, and our goals.

  • Admit What You’re Passionate About

Assessing my shadow self helps me recognize which areas in my life I could best impact people. Looking back, I just know for myself I really want to coach others to get better in life, but my sense of control has been keeping me from doing it. So I surrounded myself with inspiring and understanding coaches who made me go past that sense of control and be truly able to inspire others.

Social Media and the Shadow Self

At the end of the day, our shadow selves may be negative as they are, but we still have this really, really amazing gift that each of us could bring to the table. This is where I utilize social media as a platform to best express our shadow self in a way that will benefit those around us. Each of us is definitely unique. It’s that uniqueness that makes our contribution important and crucial.

I hope that this episode will be that inspiring pat on the back that you needed for today. And if it is, do slide me a DM because I’d love to hear from you.
