Intuition as a Source of Inspiration
Entrepreneurship is something that isn’t easy to do. There is that constant fear that it may not work out like you hope it would. There is this little bit of imposter syndrome that is always present.
We all kind of have this inner child where it's like, "Oh, now I actually have to grow up." The denial that we are already at this stage of our lives hangs over us. It is always there.
You go through that in business as well and hope you get to that point where it isn't as scary, or you make friends with it so you're comfortable when that fear comes up.
With that being said, here are a few things to consider when showing up your business on Social Media:
Scouting Your Demographic
You need to get more clients or figure out your marketing. And the best way to do that is by being on social media. Almost half of the world’s population is on social media, so you’re going to get your potential clients in this sea of people.
Now, it’s not as easy as it seems. You may think with that many people on different platforms, you’ll get the exposure that you need. That is not always the case. In that sea of people, interests can vary, and not all of them are a good match for you. There are also business figures looking for their potential clients as well.
You have to know your audience first. Examine the appropriate group that corresponds to your business, such as if you're a fitness coach, you direct your energy to gym enthusiasts, fitness influencers, and so on.
Build an Online Presence
Now that you have your target audience, you'll need to decide what type of platform you’re going to use. If your channel is going to be LinkedIn, Instagram, or maybe both, do some research, and figure out what your online presence is going to look like. Don't drift too far from your true self. It’s important to stay authentic.
Social media can sometimes be deceptive, and you don’t want to appear like that. We want to be professional in this way.
Be Active and Engaging
You built your online presence for one purpose; to connect with potential clients and market your business. But simply putting it out there is not cutting it. You have to be active and engaging. Keep in mind the fact that sometimes, some of your audience may not be your clients, but when they come across your content, they'll be able to take something with them.
You could also build that connection with people. Being a figure means you reach out to an audience outside of your circle, and engagements through social media come a long way.
Some of your audience may not be potential clients at one point but could be your clients in the long run.
Get Encouragements
One thing that's very most helpful for some is getting outside voices of other entrepreneurs, coaches, or other people around you. It can be really helpful to just get encouragement and have people around you who are cheering for you, supporting you, and willing to call you out where you’re not being active or not engaging enough. It also comes as a comfort when you have a peer to talk about things related to your business and discuss revenues and things that you may need help with.
Takeaways
Social media can be a great way to endorse your business, reach out to your potential clients, get engagements and broaden your circle as well. But keep in mind that it can be a double-edged blade. It can cut you if it goes the wrong way.
There are certain things when you're on social media that you tend to compare your lifestyle to others. It's crippling; you’re gripped with a sort of paralyzing feeling of being stagnant at this point in your life. You’re like, ‘everyone else out there is doing all of these amazing things and you’re sitting in your mom’s basement.’
It's hard to regain that focus; especially in your business.
The border is thinner between your personal life and your professional life because you're bringing your whole self every day, and you need your whole self every day when you show up as an entrepreneur.
So, remember to take things moderately. Especially in these times where society gives unwarranted opinions on social media under the guise of anonymity.
Take things in stride and go at your own pace.
