A day in my life
Starting a business is challenging, let alone maintaining one. As female entrepreneurs, we need to consider lots of things to manage our businesses effectively. Mindset and mental health are among the most important things we need to consider. Having a positive mindset is essential, indeed, to our success.
Challenges, as we all know, are a constant occurrence in the business, especially during the startup phase. It can be hard.
I remember when I was still starting my first course. I only have 7 students who enrolled! But, I was very happy about that. It was already a success for me. Because of this positive attitude, my business still thrives to this day.
As an entrepreneur myself, I'd be happy to share the typical things I do in a day and how you can also use them in your own life.
1. Set schedules.
Being on top of our schedules is important. You need to know what your availabilities and commitments are.
Time management is a key skill that you need for this one. Effective time management will help organize your plans for the day and the succeeding ones. You also have to remember to make adjustments, if necessary.
For instance, I typically record my podcast on Fridays. I complete all the things that need to be done early in the week so I can have an easy weekend. Having this freedom allows me to be more productive and work within my schedule.
2. Do something that makes you happy.
Set a time every day or every couple of days to do something that makes you happy. Doing this helps you avoid getting burned out. It also helps free you from all the inner thoughts that you always have.
Take a break. Find a way to have inner peace. It can be any activity, such as journaling, which is therapeutic.
For me, I do yoga every day. Through it, I release all the built-up stress and make room in my mind for things I need to take care of in my business. I also journal at times, but I'm pretty sure that's just the writer in me.
3. Don't beat yourself up.
I know that all of us experience having negative thoughts about ourselves - self-doubt. We tend to compare ourselves to others, especially in my line of business, in the social media world.
This is unhealthy. I do admit I still do this sometimes. It's human nature. That’s why we should have time to release those emotions for us to reflect on them. With that, we'll realize how bad we talk about our own selves and change these thoughts.
4. Nurture relationships.
Always set a time to maintain your relationships with others. We won’t be doing what we do if not for our loved ones. Set a time to talk to them and have a normal human interaction.
Working hard and working long hours are admirable but I would not advise doing so. Step away from your work. Maintaining a work-life balance is the key to living a happy life as an entrepreneur.
I hope that these 4 steps will also help you take charge of your life, especially your mental health, as they have helped me. Want to know more about what I do in a day?Listen to the full episode here.
