“Video is the only thing the algorithm cares about?” WHAT?
Welcome to the End in Mind. I'm Caitlin, owner of Meraki Media Management, and today, we’re going to talk all about video content.
First, let’s talk about the Instagram algorithm.
The first thing you need to know is that the algorithm is being updated all the time. There’s always a new push for video content. More than anything else, Instagram cares about the number of people they have on the platform and the time they spend on it every day. This is their way to see if and when they can start to charge ads for their potential clients. Who knows, one day, Instagram may even start to charge users just for clicks.
What you can do is observe the content that interests you. You can then use those types of concepts, recreate, and plug them into your business.
How does video content work for Instagram these days?
I know so many business coaches that are constantly telling me how IGTV is one of the highest converting forms of video— and it’s true! When I started my platform almost three years ago, IGTV was the highest and the most converting content.
Here’s the thing, content creators on Instagram have stopped making longer videos just to keep their audience engaged. Longer videos are not what keeps people glued on the platform anymore. Instead, shorter content is what seems to work for most people. Eventually, entrepreneurs and content creators have learned to create shorter content that is not only attention-grabbing but also very well-informing.
Instagram Trends: The Importance Of Keeping Up
If your business benefits mostly from Instagram, then you must know how to approach this application as new trends continue to come out. Learning to take advantage of this shift is what will get you ahead of the marketing trends and be seen in front of your clients.
There are several different types of content that you can work on: authentic content, promotional content, and educational content. These are sales funnels that will send people directly to your podcast, to your newsletter, or your website.
When I launched my podcast, I had 2,000 followers that I already knew would listen to me. I know because I already earned their trust through my videos on Instagram. If you're being drawn into my podcast, this is the way that we organically market— I recommend you try this marketing strategy too!
Additionally, you can try posting ‘a day in my life’ type of videos on your Instagram stories every day. Make them feel like they are part of your world by using words such as ‘you’ and ‘us’ as you talk to them through the camera.
This will allow you to draw more followers in and build trust over time with them. Not only you can show the progress of what you are doing but you also create emotional-based content. The simpler you can make your pitch in your videos and give them amazing tips, the more your marketing becomes effective.
Final Word
Remember that it’s just as important to build their trust and not just sell them your product or service 24/7. Truth is, if you don't position your content in a correct manner, there's no way that you're funneling your followers to anything.
